Gerald B. Lurie is a commercial litigator with an expertise in landlord/tenant disputes. He has represented owners of office and retail properties and has handled a wide range of ownership issues including mechanics lien matters and municipal code compliance issues, real estate transactions between buyers and sellers, and real estate-related loan matters between lenders and borrowers, including foreclosures and deed in lieu negotiations.
Gerry has over 30 years of litigation experience. He started his career as a special agent with the Illinois Bureau of Investigation. After four years he joined the United Charities Legal Aid Bureau and worked there for two years as the real estate staff attorney.
In 1976 he joined the Chicago firm of Rudnick &: Wolfe as a litigation associate. He became a partner of the firm and continued to practice in the firm’s litigation department through its evolution into DLA Piper LLP (US).
During his tenure at DLA Piper, Gerry represented clients in a wide variety of commercial cases litigated in state and federal trial and appellate courts, including the United States Court of Appeal for the Seventh Circuit, the Illinois Supreme Court, the American Arbitration Association, and other alternative dispute resolution bodies.
